Bring On The Packers

Here we are, Monday, January 4, 2015. Back from vacation. I’m tired, you’re tired, we’re all tired. But the only thing keeping us going is this large iced coffee and the fact the Redskins are preparing for a home playoff game. It’s true, it’s damn true. On Sunday at 4:40 pm, the Skins will host Aaron Rodgers and his band of idiots at FedEx Field. And the Skins opened as 2 point favorites. WATTBA. In a rebuilding year the Skins have won the games they’ve needed to win and have found themselves poised to win a playoff game. Did you watch the Packers vs Vikings last night? The Packers looked AWFUL. Rodgers still has the best footwork of any QB in the league, he can still drop dimes, but the surrounding cast was really, really bad at time. His best WR wears a hoodie. His OL is bad, at worst. The Skins Dline should be able to have their way with those jabronies. Pressure on pressure on pressure on Rodgers, who is limping into the playoffs. Week 16 they lost to the Cardinals 38-8, and then lost at home with the division on the line to the Vikings. They lost to the Bears week 12, and lost 3 in a row in weeks 8,9, and 10. So anyone who thinks Aaron Rodgers is unbeatable is sadly mistaken/an ignorant slut. They just aren’t the same time as the year’s before.

And meanwhile Kirk has put this team on his back with a 4 game dominant winning streak. While the Packers are skidding, the Skins are peaking. We’ve heard it year in and year out – it’s about who is hot at the right time. Kirk fucking Cousins is hot as can be right now. We’ve seen Wild Card teams and underdogs who caught fire at the right time win before (looking at the Steelers and the Giants….and who can forget that kid Tom Brady beating the Greatest Show on Turf?)

It’s hard to believe the Skins are hosting a playoff game on Sunday…and they have a good chance of winning it. And the best thing is there are no expectations. When a team has won 7 games over the last 2 seasons, there’s no expectation to win the Super Bowl. There’s no pressure. This is a rebuilding team. That’s what makes this so fun and so great. But I do believe they will win on Sunday, and then we’ll see what happens from there.
